1. the bar jolts
Once saturation runs out, the drumsticks start to wiggle. Which ones move, and which way, follows from the exact tick the game's clock is on.
2. we read the clock
We read every frame of the video, find each wiggle and work out the tick that drew it. That's the game's own clock, counting from the moment Minecraft was launched.
3. cuts show up
For an uncut recording, game clock and video time move together. A pause steps the line down, a cut jumps it up, and a relaunched game sends the clock back.
